The only certainty about the genesis of a Diamond (Natural – Laboratory) comes from the certifications of a Gemological Institute, as it is equipped with the appropriate technologies.

 

Notoriously there are a multitude of Gemological Laboratories capable of carrying out the analysis of the specific Diamond.

 

The analysis will determine, in addition to the genesis (Nature – Laboratory), all those technical parameters necessary to determine, at a later stage, the commercial value.

 

All Gemological Institutes are based on conventional and very precise Standards on the principles of the 4Cs: Carat – Color – Clarity – Cut.

 

Scrupulous compliance with these conventions will contribute to building the reputation and credibility of the Institute itself.

 

They are necessarily independent from commercial interests of any kind, deriving the right profit only from the scientific analysis of each Diamond submitted to them.

 

All the Institutes are to be considered Reliable, but we believe it is correct to illustrate some substantial differences that characterize them.

 

• TRADITIONAL GEMMOLOGICAL INSTITUTES, professionalism and ethics are the basis of their work. Their analyze rely on one or more Gemologists who, with their experience and their Eye, analyze the single Diamond. They draw up an exhaustive report in accordance with the standards we mentioned. Although aided by sophisticated technological equipment, their Eye will always have the last word in the classification of the analyzed Diamond.

 

Typology and Skills :

 

• Independent gemologist (freelance professional) who operates in a personalized and widespread manner, who can and must, in any case, make use of the support of the Gemological Institutes that he deems appropriate to involve in the specific case.

 

• Local/National Gemological Institute, recognized and appreciated by professionals who operate within a limited perimeter, in relation to the global market, its credibility will be essential to maintain and develop its own market niche.

 

• International Gemological Institutes recognized globally and offering a network of laboratories in the most important points. At the moment, they represent a sort of Bible in the diamond trade: (GIA – HRD – IGI) (Gcal by Sarine Technology * check INNOVAZIONI).

 

• Gemological laboratories of any nature and size never have the task of giving a commercial value, but only establish the technical characteristics.

 

• The characteristics will provide all the coordinates to determine the value based on commercial parameters, for the benefit of economic operators in the sector.
